Bill Callahan, or Smog as he used (maybe still?) refer to himself, is at the same time both depressing and somewhat hopeful. He has to have a sense of humor if he’s able consistently churn out such sad sounding songs. This video for “Riding for the Feeling” is a great example of this strange line he straddles. The song is definitely not a happy one, but the video is very simple, soft, and scerene. (via Prefix)
Two Wounded Birds
There will always be a soft spot with me for British pop/punk music. Not really sure why. There just will. I don’t need to explain myself to you. That’s not why I’m here. But you’re here to listen to me. And apparently you’re also here to watch this video from Brits Two Wounded Birds. It’s for their song “Midnight Wave”. (via Music Snobbery)
Wild Beasts
This is a month or so old, but to celebrate the release of the new Wild Beasts album Smother, here’s the video to their song “Albatross”. These guys are too good. I guess they can do no wrong.
Teen Daze
This Teen Daze video “The Bluest Water I’d Ever Seen” is so relaxing and laid back, it put my cat to sleep. Yup. Went from watching birds and cars from the window to right in front of the speaker and asleep. He supports the song. What a cat. (via No Modest Bear)

Death Cab For Cutie
Here’s a video for Death Cab‘s “Home is a Fire” from their upcoming album, Codes and Keys. The song is pretty typical for the band, and even if they’re not up your alley, you should watch the video (espcially if you live in LA). I guess Shephard Fairey played a part in making it, which should be pretty obvious if you watch. So do it. (via Laughing Squid)
Burning Hearts
Want to hear a well crafted indie pop song? Watch the video for “Into the Wilderness” by Finnish band Burning Hearts. It’s synth-heavy and creates a kind of dreamy atmosphere. Go preorder their new EP here after you watch and love this song. (via Skatterbrain)
Museum of Bellas Artes
All I can really figure out about Museum of Bellas Artes is that they’re good and have a few releases on Force Majeure Records. That’s it. Nothing else. So watch the video. (via No Modest Bear)

Blake Mills
Why not post another lo-fi music video today? This one comes thanks to my friends Superhumanoids and their great blog. Haven’t heard of this guy but I like what I’m hearing here. Fun, folky, and just an overall enjoyable experience. This is the video for Blake Mills’ “Hey Lover”.
Cool Cough
Don’t really know much about this guy other than he makes music that I like and apparently likes sports (assumption going off the video.) The song, “Stolen”, has a laid back vibe to it with simple guitars and lyrics that you can barely hear and understand. That’s all I’ll say. You should watch it. And check out the band here.
